* Looking Forward to 2011 *

I know it's only November 23, 2010, but since our new board had its first board meeting last night, I really am looking forward to the coming year of Saturday Writers.

We discussed old business and new ideas. There were great suggestions for possible changes, etc. We have our speaker lined up for our first meeting on January 29, 2011. Things are looking good and falling into place.

I hope to post news, contests and other events on a regular basis. So, please be patient with us for now.

* Becoming a Member *

Thank you very much to Barb Hodges and Liara Covert for taking the time to leave comments. Also, thank you to Donna, Pat & Writer Ink for becoming blog followers!

I spoke to a writer-friend the other day about becoming a member of Saturday Writers. She and I both belong to Missouri Writers Guild and the St. Louis Writers Guild. I joined Saturday Writers about two years ago because the meetings and work shops are much closer to my home. It only took one meeting to decide I wanted to be a member. People were friendly. They were of all ages and writing abilities. And the price was right! Only $20.00 per year, and $15.00 when you renew early for the next year.

Why am I mentioning all this, when most of you probably don't live anywhere near St. Peters, Missouri? For the same reason I talked to my friend about it. She may live too far away to attend every meeting, but she can still join and participate in the Members Only Contests. Submissions are mailed, so it doesn't require a trip. And since our membership is relatively small, the chances of winning are darn good!

Just something to keep in mind. If you don't live near us, but would like to be part of a wonderful, caring, encouraging group....please join us! * HELLO & WELCOME *

Hello and welcome! Our new blog will be up and running soon. Until then, information about our organization can be found at our website: Saturday Writers. That, too, will be undergoing some changes and should be fully updated shortly.

For now, though, here is some basic information:
Beginning in January 2011, we will have our monthly meetings in a beautiful facility; the Cultural Arts Centre, in St. Peters, Missouri. Our membership is constantly growing and our new meeting rooms will have plenty of space for everyone.

I am enthusiastic about being the new President of Saturday Writers. I welcome and encourage all writers of any age or ability to come and join us.
